الملخص

This study sought to identify the requirements for using virtual laboratories in teaching science to primary school
students in the State of Kuwait from the perspective of science teachers, and to examine statistically significant
differences in mean ratings attributable to gender, academic qualification, and participation in training courses. A
descriptive survey research method was adopted. The sample consisted of 64 male and female primary-stage
science teachers in Al-Jahra Governorate, Kuwait and a questionnaire served as the data-collection instrument.
The results showed a high level of financial requirements for implementing virtual laboratories (weighted mean
= 3.85; availability/usage rate = 76.9%) and a high level of human requirements (weighted mean = 4.13;
availability rate = 82.7%). No statistically significant differences were detected by gender, while significant
differences were found by academic qualification and by number of training courses, favoring teachers with
postgraduate degrees and those who had undertaken training. The study recommended that primary-education
authorities ensure the provision of the material and human requirements necessary for the effective use of virtual
laboratories in teaching science to primary students in Kuwait.
