Spiritual Emptiness and Its Role in Suicidal Tendencies: A Doctrinal Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines spiritual emptiness and its role in suicidal tendencies from a theological perspective. It explores the relationship between the loss of meaning and purpose in human life and the development of negative feelings that may lead to despair and psychological collapse. The study aims to highlight the impact of spiritual deficiency on the emergence of suicidal tendencies and to demonstrate the role of Islamic creed in addressing spiritual emptiness and preserving human life. The study adopts an analytical and foundational approach by examining the concepts of spiritual emptiness and suicide, identifying the major manifestations of spiritual deficiency associated with them, and focusing on key theological issues, including nihilism, pessimism, and the denial of belief in the Hereafter, along with their consequences in shaping an individual's perception of life and death. The study concludes that spiritual emptiness is a significant factor contributing to suicidal tendencies due to its role in creating existential emptiness and weakening the values and meanings that guide human behavior. It also shows that belief in Allah, divine decree, and the Hereafter represent essential theological foundations that contribute to psychological balance and provide individuals with the ability to cope with hardships and trials. The study emphasizes that theological treatment helps restore the meaning of life and connect it with divine purpose, thereby supporting the preservation of human life and preventing destructive behaviors.
