The study delved into the political, social, and cultural life during the second century and its impact on interpretation.
The study explored the schools of interpretation during the second Hijri century, including the schools of Mecca, Iraq, and Sham (Syria). The research examined the sources of interpretation during the third Hijri century. It analyzed the efforts of scholars in Quranic interpretation during the second Hijri century. The study concluded with a summary, highlighting the main findings and proposals. Notable conclusions include: the political upheavals during the second Hijri century, resulting in disturbances across the Arab Maghreb and Andalusia, weakening and division within the Islamic nation, affecting scholarly life. Additionally, some scholars refrained from excessive narration in interpretation due to fear of error, a characteristic of a group of Medina-based interpreters. Moreover, the emergence of Islamic sects such as the Khwarij, Mu’tazila, and Shiaa, along with the spread of sectarian bias and the appearance of false interpretations, such as the concept of the Quran's creation and reincarnation, contributed to the infiltration of many fabricated narrations and made-up traditions into interpretive literature. This led to confusion between authentic and inauthentic interpretations, especially in the works of Shiite, Mu'tazilite, Ash'ari, and Zaidi scholars.
