Main Article Content
Abstract
This study focused on examining the Quranic verses that include Pharaoh’s speeches to Moses (PBUH). The essential question of the research is: What are the contents of Pharaoh’s media messages to Moses in the Quran? And did any contradictions emerge that affected the strength of his discourse? The research employed an inductive analytical method to collect and analyze the texts and extract the messages contained in these speeches, as well as a deductive method to derive the messages and identify the contradictions within them. The study concluded that Pharaoh’s media messages to Moses (PBUH) varied between blaming and reproaching, defamation and embarrassment, boasting and arrogance, evasion and diversion, intimidation and threats, lying and defiance, accusations, and spreading rumors. These varied approaches reflect Pharaoh's use of different rhetorical and psychological techniques to mislead and manipulate minds. The study also highlighted the contradictions in Pharaoh's accusations against Moses (PBUH), fluctuating between insanity, magic, and lying, which reveals his confusion in confronting Moses' call. Furthermore, the research emphasized Pharaoh's contradiction when he turned to Moses (PBUH) for help despite his claim to divinity, exposing his inability to confront the affliction he was suffering from. The research also indicated that Pharaoh relied on psychological media warfare through propaganda and deception, revealing the pivotal role of media in Pharaoh’s speeches, where he employed tools to manipulate public opinion and distort Moses' mission, ultimately strengthening his authority. The study recommended conducting research on Moses’ (PBUH) responses to Pharaoh’s media messages and analyzing his methods of confrontation, highlighting the role of leadership in enhancing collective awareness to mitigate the impact of authoritarian discourse.
