AL-IMĀM IBN YŪNUS' JURISPRUDENTIAL APPROACH IN HIS BOOK ‘AL-JĀMIʻ LI-MASĀʼIL AL-MUDAWWANAH’

Abstract

The research was concerned with explaining the jurisprudential approach of al-Imām Ibn Yūnus in his book "al-Jāmiʻ li-masāʼil al-Mudawwanah", and clarifying its prestige in the Māliki school of thought, with the aim of showing the features of the Imām’s jurisprudential approach, and his method in writing this great Islamic book. By employing the inductive analytical approach. the study concluded the following findings: (1) Imām Ibn Yūnus was objective in Seeking the truth and showing it even if it is against the school of thought; (2) Imām Ibn Yūnus was fair and honest when transmitting sayings by attributing them to their owners and transmitting them as they mentioned and; (3) his scientific honesty so that he mentions more than what others say when transmitting to him.
