YŪSUF AFANDĪ ZĀDAH AND HIS CARING OF THE NOBLE QUR’ĀN AND ITS SCIENCES

Abstract

The scholars throughout the decades have taken care of the noble Qur’ān and its sciences, in the field of its interpretation and clarification of its meanings and the field of Qurānic recitations. The scholars of the ottoman empire had spent a great efforts in this field, while the most prominent amongst them was the scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah (AH1167/AD 1754 ), who had a great contribution in the sciences of the Qur’ān, its interpretation and Qurānic recitation. the problem of this research emerges in the absence of the previous studies about the scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah and his efforts in the the noble Qur’ān and its sciences; Therefore, the reseracher dedicated this research to deal with his personal and scientific life. Thus,This study aims to introduce Yūsuf Afandī Zādah and to show  his interest in the noble Qur’ān and its sciences. The researcher has used the inductive approach to trace the features of his personal and scientific life and the descriptive approach to describe his concern about the noble Qur’ān and its sciences. The research reached the following findings: (1) Rectifying the name of the grandfather of the scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah; (2) Showing that the name (Yūsuf Afandī Zādah) was known as his name and as his father (Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf) was also known by  this name before him; (3) The scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah is one of the most prominent scholars and reciters in the Turkish countries, who combined between the art of interpretation, recitations, ḥadith and other arts; (4) The scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah used to master three languages: Arabic, Turkish and Persian; (5) The scholar Yūsuf Afandī Zādah had left poetry and many books on various arts and most of his books are related to the noble Qur’ān and its sciences.
