Abstract

The idea of this study revolves around defining the notion of God’s unique divine properties and demonstrating their importance, classifications, and universal characteristics, in addition to revealing their requisites and implications on the Shariah. The study would also respond to objections lodged against their requisites. This study aims to study and determine with precision the greatest truth obligated in the religion, as well as that which is forbidden, namely monotheism and polytheism, for they are interconnected with the notion of divine properties. It also intends to illustrate the belief of the Muslims in regards to God’s names and attributes in terms of how it is compulsory on Muslims to single out Allah in terms of His unique names and attributes, and by negating for Him any characteristics of created beings. This study also seeks to affirm that unveiling the divine properties of God is one of the strongest means of making the heart attach and turn to its Lord. In this study, I employed a variety of research methodologies by adopting inductive, analytical, deconstructive, and critical approaches. And of the most important learnings reached in this study is that Allah’s divine properties refer back to His existence and essence, for some of His properties are interconnected with His Lordship (Rubūbīyyah), while others are interlinked with His Godship (Ulūhīyyah), and others are associated with His Names and Attributes. Moreover, the proof for Allah’s divine properties vary in terms of their types, and Allah’s divine properties also differ in terms of how they demonstrate Allah’s separation from His creation. Furthermore, Allah’s divine properties are not finite in number. As for the recommendations which this study proposes is that researchers ought to expand their research by collating Allah’s divine properties associated with His Lordship, Godship, and Names and Attributes, and to devote a dedicated study to each one of them. It’s also good for researchers in the domain of theology to pursue research linking the impact of deviations in the divine properties of Allah on all the topics which deviant groups went astray in.
