TERMS OF FAITH IN THE BOOK ENTITLED THE DOCTRINE OF THE ANCESTORSAND THE HADITH BY: SHEIKH ISMAIL BIN ABDUL RAHMAN AL-SABOUNI (DIED IN 449 AH)

Abstract

This research tackled the science of Aqeedah. In the past, it was called Al-Kalam, fundamentals of religion, the Sunnah, Manhaj, and so on. Due to the multiplicity of concepts and abundance of terminology, this study tackled the beginning of emergence of sects until the age of modernism. It tackled the study of the Aqeedah terminology of As-Sabouni comparing with others’ opinions. The study included two topics: the first topic included an introduction, biography of the author and definition of the book. It tackled the definition of the Aqeedah terminology and how it developed over ages in times of recording creeds. Second topic included the core of the study, that is, the Aqeedah terminology of As-Sabouni in the book entitled the doctrine of the Salaf and the Hadith scholars taking into account that he divided the terminology according to its relevance to the categories such as terminology of faith, terminology of sects, and terminology of Manhaj. These terminologies are divided based on its mention in the text of As-Sabouni. On the other hand, I studied the terminology as follows: 1- the text in which the terminology is mentioned by As-Sabouni. 2- the linguistic definition of the terminology. 3- the terminological definition of the term. 4- Mentioning the evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah for the Sharia terminologies. 5- Studying and criticizing the innovated terminologies according to the doctrinal and scientific approach of those who majored in this science. 6- Discussion, making preference, and mentioning As-Sabouni’s opinion.
