Abstract

Abstract: Wishes are things that a person hopes to achieve. They are desirable and cherished matters. However, there are wishes that are impossible to achieve, even if a person wishes for them. When the Holy Quran refers to these wishes and makes them impossible, it intends to direct the addressee to the necessity of avoiding this situation before it occurs. This is a sign of God's mercy. To create the meaning of wishing in speech, a person uses the word "layt," which denotes a wish. Therefore, we will examine the verses that include this word in the context of an impossible wish. It occurs in seven different contexts, some of which relate to worldly life, and others to the events of the Day of Judgment. Therefore, this research aims to examine these impossible wishes mentioned in the Holy Quran, attempting to study them stylistically by focusing on the stylistic aspects that contributed to shaping this meaning from all angles. This is done after adequately explaining the research terms. The descriptive analysis approach will be used to examine these stylistic aspects of wishes.
