A Hanbali reading of the jurisprudence of living with others

Abstract
This study examines the jurisprudence of coexistence with others within the Hanbali school by analyzing Hanbali attitudes toward various Islamic schools and intellectual trends. It explores historical examples of scholarly and juristic interaction, while discussing factors that contributed to periods of conflict and tension. The study distinguishes between individual positions and the general orientation of the Hanbali tradition. It also highlights the contributions of prominent Hanbali scholars, such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Aqil, in promoting dialogue, intellectual engagement, and renewal. The study concludes that the Hanbali heritage contains valuable principles that can support coexistence and constructive management of differences in contemporary societies.
