Abstract

This study aims to highlight the Qur’anic verses in which death is mentioned before life, and to uncover the divine wisdom and semantic benefits derived from the Qur’anic context in prioritizing death—despite its occurring later in time and status—over life. It follows a method of tracing and general analytical examination of the verses. The study concludes that the precedence of death indicates the precedence of what came first in existence and creation. It also serves as a reminder of the origin of human existence and the beginning of creation, as nonexistence preceded existence.

Furthermore, it demonstrates God’s power to resurrect after death and refutes those who deny it. It also points out that death is among the blessings of God upon His servants, as it results in the end of worldly pain and hardship and the transition to eternal bliss in the Hereafter. Additionally, it highlights the aspect of admonition and reflection in the mention of death and its agonies.
