The method of Imam al-Naysaburi al-Darir in Presenting the Mutawatir Qira'at (recitations) in his book Al-Kifaya fi al-Tafsir

Abstract

This study aims to identify the approach of Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir in presenting the Mutawatir qira'at (recitations) in his book Al-Kifaya fi al-Tafsir. The study problem lies in the absence of a specialized study that gathers the Mutawatir qira'at mentioned in the interpretation of Al-Kifaya by Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir and clarifies his methodology in presenting those qira'at. This method has its advantages and disadvantages, which highlights the importance of this study in explaining Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir’s approach to dealing with the Mutawatir qira'at and his use of them in his exegesis. The researcher employed inductive, analytical, and deductive approaches to trace the instances of Mutawatir qira'at in Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir’s interpretation, analyze them scientifically, and deduce his methodology in addressing those qira'at. The researcher reached several conclusions, the most important of which are: Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir did not distinguish between the Mutawatir and the anomalous (Shaz) qira’at through any explicit mention or indication. He sometimes attributes the Mutawatir qira'at to their reciters, but more often, he does not attribute them. Imam al-Naysaburi al-Dharir, like other early exegetes, occasionally makes distinctions and preferences among Mutawatir qira'at, though such instances are rare in his interpretation.
