Abstract

The Islamic Sharia is a comprehensive system that encompasses all aspects of life, including the political system, which addresses political despotism through the legislations it has enacted to prevent this type of tyranny. By examining the boundaries that prevent a ruler from despotism and monopolizing the fate and decisions of the nation, the stance of Sharia on despotism will become clear to those who deny it and accuse it of tyranny. This understanding is crucial to achieve the objectives of this research, which aims to elucidate the Sharia texts that prohibit political despotism, demonstrate the superiority and diversity of Sharia texts in confronting political despotism, and clarify the patterns of Sharia discourse in facing political despotism. The researcher followed the descriptive methodology to accurately identify and describe these phenomena. The research concluded with several key findings, including the abundance, diversity, comprehensiveness, and justice of Sharia texts that resist political despotism. The study also highlighted the stability, firmness, and timeless applicability of Sharia. Moreover, it clarified that any suspicion suggesting that Islamic Sharia entrenches political despotism is unfounded. Political despotism in the Islamic nation only emerged when religion was isolated from the public life of society, and ignorance of religious rulings spread.
