Abstract

The human intellect and his ability to complex thinking is a characteristic that Allah has given him above all his creatures. Islam came to encourage the utilization of the mind by thought, contemplation and consideration of the kingdom of Allah, His signs and religion, and He gave us a set of legislations that preserves the mind and protects it from falling into error or deviation. This research sheds light on one aspect of thinking by studying the writings of a scholar of Islam, Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, in whose work this practice was clearly manifested in terms of the utilization of the mind and the use of a set of tools and regulations related to thinking and avoiding its flaws, which contributed to the strength of their discourse and the intellectuality of their writings and their impact on a period of many and long centuries. The researcher focuses on an aspect of the thinking of Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, which is related to the flaws of thinking that negatively affect the human mind. The researcher arrived at two main flaws after tracking his works: the first is the flaw of ignorance, and the second is the flaw of desire, and he explained how he dealt with these two vices and explained them through his writings and books.
