Abstract

This study aims at exploring the doctrinal purposes for which praising Allah in prayers was enacted. It shows that performing the prayers is the most important pillar of Islam after testifying that Allah has the right to be worshiped and Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah. Performing prayers is the core of obeying and glorifying Allah and praising Allah is one of the most important legislated sayings in prayers where it was enacted in seven positions: at the beginning of prayers, while reading verses in which Allah is praised, replacing reading Holly Quran for those who cannot read it, while kneeling and prostrating in prayers, when in need to beg Allah for help, and after performing the assigned prayers. Praising Allah has different kinds in different positions as assigned in the correct texts of Islam. Each kind has its own doctrinal purpose that fits the situation where it is said. All these purposes aim at praising Allah and glorifying Him as a Perfect and make one feel His Oneness of the Lordship, Worship and the Names and the Qualities.
