Al-Ibadiyya’s Interpretation of the Quran in Theological Issues and the Response of Ahl al-Sunnah

Abstract
The researcher discussed the issue of Al-Ibadiyya’s employment of Qur’anic Tafsir to promote their beliefs through T’aweel, or interpreting, the verses about the Islamic Doctrine. It also studied the instruments and methods which have been adopted in such employment. This study aims to give an idea about the terminology of T’aweel, its types and conditions. In addition, the researcher clarifies what part of T’aweel is recommendable and what is not. Then the study concentrates on the Sect of Al-Ibadiyya, their beliefs, its relationship to the Kharijites (Repels), and their tafsir productions, along with the presentationof the sound system of belief which is the belief of Ahlu-Sunnat wa-l Jamaa’h. The research adopted the historical methodology, inductive methodology and the Critical and Comparative methodology. The researcher concluded that some of the Qur’anic texts were used to support previous beliefs of the Ibadiyya School, the evidence of whose t’aweel is that mind is more useful than what is written and also evidence of Arabic Language. Most of these t’aweels are in the theological beliefs (about God) and Audibilities. Also, there are no violations in the issue of prophecies.
