Innovative Standards in Evaluating Arabic Language books for Non-Speakers of Arabic Analytical Study

Abstract

This study aims at evaluating the cultural content of the book named “Al-Arabiyya bain Yadaik” by deducting the joint standards of both standards of Rushdi Ahmed Tuaimah, standards of American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages, and standards of Joint European frames. The pre-mentioned standards have achieved a wide spread in being used by the concerned and the experts of teaching Arabic or foreign languages. The book of “Al-Arabiyya bain Yadaik” has widely spread in all levels of Arabic Non-speaking learners, and gained extensive interest among its people-in-charge and specialists in different areas of Teaching Arabic for non-speakers of Arabic. From this point, the researcher started to denote to its culture, content, limitations and general standards. After he finished that, he discussed and presented the three standards. He presented the motivational reasons for selecting every standard. Then, he illustrated them by defining the book of “Al-Arabiyya bain Yadaik”.  Also, he explained the reality of its cultural content. Lastly, he deducted from these three standards the tool of evaluating the cultural content of the book, depending on the computational program called Excel. It is hoped that this study become a new essence for deducting and creating modern tools in evaluating books of teaching Arabic to those who do not speak it. Avoiding the traditional way of evaluation may raise the level of writing the books of Arabic to those who do not speak it, and this will be positively reflected on the level of Arabic Non-speaking learners. This study concluded that the Arabic, American and European standards are important for evaluating the cultural content of the book. In addition, it was proved that the book’s content matches most of the evaluation international standards. In addition, the book still needs to be contain some illustrations and modifications of its cultural content so that its weaknesses can be eradicated.
