Designing Arabic language tests for non-native speakers and their contemporary techniques Al-Madinah International University Experience as a Case Study

Abstract

This research paper aimed to studying and discussing the type of the ways and technology used by Al- Madinah International University for the sake of measuring Arabic language skills for non-native speakers. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach as methodology. The study concluded with the following findings: MEDIU digital Placement test (MAPT); diagnostic test, Achievement tests; which is normally organized during the Continuous assessment, mid-term, final tests which include objectives tests as  (Multiple choice questions with one answer, multi-choice questions with multiple answers, matching questions, fill-in-the-blank questions, right and false questions, essay questions with short questions (restricted),The Extended questions, and other oral questions to measure expression skills. The research also found that the University has a Digital Questions Bank to automatically generate various test questions in order to ensure quality in the tests and to achieve equal opportunities among the students in the questions and their objectivity and away from the subjective factors.
