The Microfinance Industry Position During The war A Case Study of Yemen

Abstract

The microfinance sector requires a stable and safe environment in order to operate effectively and achieve its economic objectives. Hence, the objective of this paper is to explore the experience of the microfinance sector in Yemen during the year 2015 in order to analyze the effects of the current war on its institutions. Through reviewing official reports and statistics, it can be concluded that the microfinance sector has been significantly affected because of the war. Moreover, the financial indicators have shown obvious regression. However, some of the microfinance institutions have managed to operate under these critical circumstances and provide services to clients.
