Abstract

This study focused on the efforts of scholars of interpretation in geographical Palestine during a specific time period; it demonstrated the extent of Palestine's concern for the sciences of the Qur'an, and especially the science of interpretation, despite the displacement and stress that afflicted the Palestinian people during this time period as a result of Israel's occupation since 1948.

This study identified three of the most prominent interpreters of historical Palestine in the past two centuries, Hussein Al-Darwish, a professor of rhetoric in Palestine, Amir Abdel Aziz Rasras, a professor of comparative law at Palestinian universities, and Mrs. Naila Ikrima Sabri, the first woman to interpret the Holy Qur’an in its entirety in the Arab and Islamic nations.

The study concluded by outlining the scientific merit of the three interpreters' views, which would be the subject of this study, as well as the extent to which they tie the interpretation to the Palestinian cause.
