Abstract
Summary:
The research is concerned with testing the saying of measuring substitution of the letter ( س ) with the letter ( ص )
, if these letters ( خ or ط or غ or ق )
come after it.
Which is the saying that adopted by some linguists.
so, the research will test this saying by following the inductive approach, collecting all the words - from Lisan Alarab, in which the
( س and ص ) are alternated.
Whether in the beginning or in the middle of the word with no difference in
The other two letters, and one of them is one of the letters That mentioned before ( خ or ط or غ or ق ),
then Considering their meanings, and dividing them among the two subjects, in
The first topic we collected the words that have the same meaning , and in
the second topic we collected the words that have different meaning, to test the research hypothesis accordingly.After collecting the words
, and following their meanings
The research concluded a number of results, including:
The number of the collected words reached
Fifty seven, the vast majority of it was in the substitution ,
as follows:
- Substitution of ( س ) with ( ص ) in the beginning of the word occurred in 23 cases
- Substitution of ( ص ) with ( س ) in the beginning of the word occurred in 14 cases
- Substitution of ( س ) with ( ص ) in the middle of the word occurred in 6 cases
- Substitution of ( ص ) with ( س ) in the middle of the word occurred in 2 cases
So the total of the substitution cases is forty-five.
- The difference in meaning occurred in twelve cases.
- Substitution of ( س ) with ( ص ) if it comes after it one of these letters ( خ or ط or غ or ق ) it happened frequently but we cannot take it as a standard as there is no substitution in some cases despite the presence of the mentioned letters, also there is Substitution of ( ص ) with ( س ) if it comes one of these letters ( خ or ط or غ or ق ) after the letter ( ص ) , and we have relied in that on the frequent use, as mentioned by Ibn Jinni.
