ABSTRACT
The current study tackled the answer of the following questions: Is there a relationship between psychological hardiness and self-esteem، and are there any aspects of psychological hardiness such as (commitment، control and challenge) which one is more important than other among secondary school students in Al Jumum Governorate. The study community was consisted of secondary school students in Al Jumum Governorate، where a random sample was used on a simple random basis، reached to 200 students. The two researchers used the correlative descriptive approach; psychological hardiness scale and self-esteem scale were also used. Out of the most important results of the research was a relationship between commitment dimension، control dimension and challenge dimension of Psychological hardiness and self-esteem dimensions. The results indicated that commitment dimension is the most important dimension of psychological hardiness in the study sample، where it is ranked firstly followed by control and challenge dimensions in the same importance. The two researchers recommended designing a mentoring program for secondary school students to develop their psychological hardiness and self-esteem، and to instill perseverance and persistence values in school curriculum، and develop a sense of social responsibility and ability to withstand frustration and pressure for their importance in developing children psychological hardiness، and training to increase practical skills in individuals' psychological hardiness to reduce the incidence of mental illness. The two researchers suggested a number of researches، including parental trends in upbringing and its relationship with children psychological hardiness، psychological hardiness and its relationship with burnout among students. Students' psychological hardiness and relationship with anxiety، psychological hardiness and relationship with optimism and pessimism among students، psychological hardiness and relationship with self-esteem among students، and effectiveness of a mentoring program to develop students' psychological hardiness.
