Abstract
“The Concept of Coercion in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam”. The paper aims to explain the concept of coercion in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The research found that the term “coercion” appears in several meanings in the Bible, including : Judaization, Christianization, compulsion, terrorism, horror, coercion, persuasion, force, and obligation. It also refers to carrying something and referring to something, evangelism, and persecution. In Islam, it appears with meanings such as carrying, obligation, hardship, domination, compulsion, referral, coercion, oppression, injustice, tyranny, and necessity. Judaism has unique terms that refer to coercion such as Judaization. Similarly, Christianity has unique terms such as Christianization and evangelism. They both agree on the term persecution and compulsion. Therefore, coercion in Judaism, Christianity and Islam revolves around common meanings such as carrying something and referring to something, domination, compulsion, referral, coercion and persecution. These meanings are similar in some sense but differ in expression. The books of faith do not provide a clear definition of coercion despite its multiple definitions among jurists.
