ABSTRACT
As the science of Grammatical explanations of the recitation modes is a significant field associated with Allah Almighty’s Book and clarifies the nuances of recitation and its interpretations, the scholars have recognized its importance, leading to the creation of numerous valuable texts, both lengthy and concise. The linguists have devoted considerable attention to this field, discussing the grammatical explanation of the various recitation modes and cited the meanings and the syntactic implications they denote. One of these notable scholars, Ibn Nāqiyā Al-Baghdādī, who passed away in 485H, cited the recitation modes and explained them grammatically in his two works, Al-Jumān Fi Tashbīhāt Al-Qur’an (Pearls in the Analogies of the Qur'an) and Sharḥ Al-Faṣīḥ. This research aims to compile and analyze his grammatical explanation of the various recitation modes in these two books. The focus of the research is to identify the recitation modes reported by Ibn Nāqiyā Al-Baghdādī and how he explained them grammatically in Al-Jumān Fi Tashbīhāt Al-Qur’an and Sharḥ Al-Faṣīḥ. The goal is to highlight the efforts of linguists to grammatically explain the various recitation modes, and to benefit from their insights as documented in their writings. The structure of the research includes an introduction, a preface discussing the origins and terminology of the science of the grammatical explanation of the various recitation modes. Then, it has two chapters: the first, a biography of Ibn Nāqiyā Al-Baghdādī, and the second collecting and analyzing his grammatical explanation of the various recitation modes in his works. The research concludes with a summary and an index of sources and references. The study employs both inductive and comparative analytical methodologies. One of its key findings is that linguistic texts are rich in material related to the science of grammatical explanation of the various recitation modes, as evidenced in Ibn Naqiya's works, Al-Juman and Sharḥ Al-Faṣīḥ. It was found that he cited recitation modes based on the meanings he provided, not limiting himself to widely accepted recitation modes, but also occasionally mentioning anomalous recitation modes. Furthermore, he often referred to recitation modes without specifying the names of the reciters, which he does rarely.
