Abstract
The research aims to explore the effect of constructivist theory on improving grammatical skills among first secondary grade students at Al Safwa International School in Muscat. A quasi-experimental approach was used, where students were divided into two groups: an experimental group that received education using strategies based on constructivist theory, and a control group that received education in the traditional way. The researcher used two pre- and post-tests to assess the level of grammatical skills.
The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, as the average post-test scores increased by 46.55% compared to the pre-test. While the control group achieved a slight increase of 13.33%. Statistical analyses also showed statistically significant differences between the two groups, confirming the effectiveness of constructivist theory strategies.
Recommendations include the need to train teachers to use constructivist strategies, update curricula, and enhance interaction in classrooms. It is also suggested to conduct future studies that include a larger sample of students.
