The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed unit based on Islamic jurisprudential updates in developing religious awareness among eighth-grade female students in Islamic education in the United Arab Emirates.
The study sample consisted of )51( female students from the eighth grade at Al-Manara Private School in Abu Dhabi, who were divided into two groups: an experimental group of )24( students who were taught using the proposed unit on jurisprudential updates, and a control group of) 27( students who were taught using the conventional method. The researcher followed a quasi-experimental approach and prepared three tools to achieve the study objectives: an achievement test, a situational test, and a religious awareness scale, which were validated and tested for reliability. The results showed statistically significant differences between the means of the two groups in the achievement and situational tests in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed statistically significant differences between the means of the two groups in the religious awareness test in favor of the experimental group.
The study recommended the importance of adding jurisprudential updates in teaching Islamic education curriculum at all educational levels.
