The impact of passion activities on identifying professional tendencies among Saudi university students, a field study on preparatory year students at Taibah University in Madinah

Abstract

This research aims to demonstrate the impact of passionate activities in determining the professional tendencies of Saudi undergraduate students and to demonstrate the value of these activities in arousing compulsive passion among undergraduate students. It also aims to present the classification of passionate activities that have the greatest impact on the professional tendencies of undergraduate students through a field study on preparatory year students at Taibah University. The research used the descriptive correlational approach to achieve its objectives. The study sample consisted of (392) students from the preparatory year at Taibah University in Madinah. The study tools were prepared to achieve the objectives of the study. It consisted of two dimensions. The first dimension is the passion scale and the second dimension is the measure of professional tendencies. The research reached results, the most important of which: was able to indicate the impact of passion on the professional tendencies of undergraduate students. The research presented the value of passionate activities in arousing compulsive passion among undergraduate students and the classification of passionate activities that have the greatest impact on professional tendencies among undergraduate students. After completing the field application of the study dimension and data collection and analysis, the study results showed that the level of passion for preparatory year students at Taibah University was high. Likewise, the level of professional tendencies for students in the preparatory year at Taibah University was high. The study recommend several of recommendations, the most important of which are: interest in diversifying activities that are related to students’ desires, interests, aspirations and daily lives to enhance their level of passion and seek to increase it to achieve a very high level of passion for them. Urging those in charge of the preparatory year at various universities by taking advantage of the dimensions of the current study (passion scale and the professional tendencies scale), which are characterized by honesty and stability in knowing the level of passion and professional tendencies among preparatory year students
