Motivation of athletic achievement among student swimmers In Saudi universities and its relationship to some variables

This study aimed to know the reality of motivation of achievement among the swimmers students in the universities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the light of some variables. These variables included the training age (the experience) which was divided into the years of practice (0-5) years, (6-10) years, and more than 10 years old. The other variable included the geographical regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where the sample was distributed to four geographical regions; the Eastern region, the Central region, the Western region, and the Northern region. The research problem establishes the effect of the years of practicing sports and the geographical regions on students' personalities, especially in motivation and confidence features. As for the study tool, the researcher used: (a questionnaire for the motivation list of sports achievement and includes two dimensions: the motivation for achieving success and the motivation for avoiding failure). The researcher used the descriptive method in his study. The sample of the study included students of the Saudi universities who are participated in swimming competitions which are arranged by the Saudi Universities Sports Federation and took place at King Saud University in Riyadh city, in which sixteen universities participated. The sample reached the number of (106) swimmer students representing their universities. The results showed that the level of Achievement motivation of the swimmer students was high. Moreover, there are no statistical differences between the responses of the sample members of students on the sport achievement motivation scale attributed to the years of practicing. Furthermore, there is no statistical differences between the swimmer students on the scale of achievement motivation attributed to the geographical region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
