Abstract
This study aimed to build a training program based on training needs by reviewing a list of the twenty-first century skills to be acquired by Arabic language teachers. Moreover, the study aimed to determine the degree of Arabic language teachers' possession of these skills in order to meet their training needs according to the proposed training program. The researcher used the descriptive approach, relying on the questionnaire he prepared by referring to theoretical literature and previous studies related to the subject of the study. The study sample included the Arabic language teachers at the secondary stage in the city of Dammam and the number (170) teachers, and the researcher sent the electronic questionnaire to all the vocabulary of society. Only (112) teachers have responded to the questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the teachers of Arabic at the secondary level in Dammam have the skills of the twenty-first century with an average degree in general. Moreover, the degree of their possession of learning and innovation skills came in the first order and with a high degree, followed by the skills of digital culture (information and technology culture) and with a high degree, and in the third and last ranking came skills Profession and life (adaptation, flexibility, leadership and responsibility) came at a moderate degree. Based on the results, the study recommended conducting training courses for teachers based on the skills of the twenty-first century that will make a positive improvement on their teaching performance and students’ learning and achievement accordingly.Keywords: proposed perspective, training program, training needs, Arabic language teachers, twenty-first century skills, high school.
