Effects of Atheism on Contemporary Effects of Atheism on Contemporary Islamic Societies: An Applied Study on Amman University Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study aims at identifying the most important reasons of Atheism and its effects on Arabic and Islamic societies. It intends to provide solutions to this creedal defect which began to spread in our student communities and to protect young people from the ideas of Atheism by raising awareness of its causes and its contemporary aspects and by recognizing the best ways to solve it and how to confront it. The study was based on the inductive approach, the historical approach and finally the analytical descriptive approach. The questionnaire was used as the tool for data collection while the sample was randomly selected from the Universities of Amman, Jordan. The results of the study showed that the students of Amman Universities have a low understanding of the contemporary aspects of Atheism and a medium understanding of its effects on the Arabic and Islamic societies. In addition, the study found out that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (≤ a 0.05) between the mean values of the sample (students) due to their understanding of the concept of Atheism and its effects on two axes (Atheism aspects and Atheism effects), which is attributed to the academic level variable. The study confirms that there is no relation attributed to the sex variable. Therefore, the study recommended the importance of reviewing and updating the curricula of Islamic education, especially those of high school grades, and focusing on the lessons that show the destructive misleading currents and how to face them.
