Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between education and sustainable human development and the obstacles to achieving it in Yemen. The methodology that used in this study is the qualitative methods that rely on the documentary descriptive approach and critical analysis to collect information and ideas from the literature of development thinking related to sustainable human development, especially those related to education. The results of the study concluded that the absence of a clearly defined educational philosophy. The results also indicated that educational curricula are not suitable to be a basis for human development in Yemen. Moreover, the results indicated that the development efforts of the education systems; It dwindles and hides its impact in front of the growing student flow. The study recommended based on the results, to develop the education system in consideration the changes that are happing in the local and international society; in order to prepare the appropriate ground education for the occurrence of the desired changes and adapt them to the general system formats of society, and exclude the unwanted changes.
