The context of the occurrence of (Lord of the Worlds) in Surat Al-Shu'araa - a comparative study

Abstract
The research examines the contexts in which the phrase "Rabb Al-Alameen" appears in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, analyzing its occurrences and the impact of context in determining its various meanings and connotations. It also conducts a comparative analysis of these contexts within the surah itself and in other places in the Qur’an. The significance of this study lies in its focus on the rhetorical and thematic usage of the phrase “Rabb Al-Alameen” in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, which is characterized by its frequent presentation of the stories of the prophets with subtle variations in expression. The research also contributes to understanding the thematic structure of the surah and its core objectives. The research problem is to answer the fundamental question: What is the profound and precise significance behind the Qur’anic expression “Rabb Al-Alameen” and how does it contribute to shaping theological and educational meanings in Surah Ash-Shu'ara? The study aims to explore the meanings and connotations of the phrase “Rabb Al-Alameen” in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, identify its Quranic contexts, and understand its relationship with the messages of the prophets mentioned in the surah. This research adopts the inductive approach by surveying the occurrences of the phrase “Rabb Al-Alameen” in Surah Ash-Shu'ara and analyzing scholarly interpretations of it. It also employs the descriptive-analytical method by describing the phrase "Lord of the Worlds," analyzing its interpretations, explaining them, and linking them to the Quranic context. Among the key findings of the study is the correction of misconceptions regarding the concept of “Rabb Al-Alameen”. The phrase addresses doctrinal deviations among nations that worshiped multiple gods and calls them to the oneness of Allah in worship as the sole Owner and Sustainer of all things. The recurrence of the term “Rabb Al-Alameen” in Surah Ash-Shu'ara appears in multiple contexts, emphasizing monotheism and the greatness of Allah as the Creator and Sustainer of all worlds. The narratives in the surah depict the perseverance of the prophets in the face of their people's resistance, reflecting their determination to spread the message of monotheism and remain steadfast in their principles. Additionally, the surah underscores the sincerity of the prophets' call to Allah without expecting any material gain from people. Commentators emphasize that the prophets did not seek personal benefits but instead reserved their reward with Allah alone. The significance of this research lies in its clarification of the contextual placement of "Rabb Al-Alameen."
