Understanding the fundamental differences is crucial for comprehending jurisprudential rulings and issuing accurate judgments on issues that appear similar in form but differ in content. Therefore, esteemed scholars have given attention to these differences in their writings, interspersed throughout their works. The research problem lies in the fact that one of these scholars, Ibn An-Najjar Al-Hanbali, mentioned many fundamental differences in his book Sharh Al-Kawkab Al-Munir. From this standpoint, this research titled "The Fundamental Differences in the Semantics of Expressions According to Ibn al-Najjar in His Book Sharh Al-Kawkab Al-Munir" forms part of a scientific thesis titled "The Fundamental Differences According to Imam Ibn al-Najjar in His Book Sharh Al-Kawkab Al-Munir." The research aims to highlight some fundamental differences in the semantics of expressions, presenting what Ibn An-Najjar deemed the most accurate in disputed differences, and showing the extent of Ibn An-Najjar's attention to mentioning fundamental differences by comparing his mentioned differences with those of other scholars. It also includes some jurisprudential applications. The researcher adopted the inductive, descriptive, and analytical methodologies. The main findings indicate that the fundamental differences in the study of the semantics of expressions do not cover all the differences mentioned by scholars. In disputed differences, Ibn An-Najjar may prefer the existence of a difference between the terms or mention the disagreement without favoring a particular view.
