Abstract

The title of the research is "Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla: His Biography and the Opinions of the Scholars of Jarh and Ta'dil about Him - An Analytical Study." Muhammad is one of the hadith narrators who received, preserved, and transmitted the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to their students and subsequent narrators. May Allah have mercy on him and forgive him and all Muslim narrators. My work in this research was organized as follows: I divided the study into an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a bibliography, and a table of contents. The introduction is divided into two chapters: Chapter One: the biography which contains nine themes: the first, his name, lineage, attribution, and kunyah (nickname); the second theme, his birth; the third, teachers; the fourth, his generation; the fifth, the narrators whose transmission (if any) is judged as interrupted (if any); the sixth, the narrators who transmitted from him; the seventh, his death; the eighth, the scholars of the six major hadith collections who cited him; the ninth, his works. Chapter Two: The Opinions of the Scholars of Jarh and Ta'dil (Criticism of Hadeeth narrators). This chapter contains five themes: the opinions of the strict scholars about him and their summaries, the opinions of the moderate scholars about him and their summaries, the opinions of the lenient scholars about him and their summaries, the opinions of other scholars about him and their summaries (whose methodologies in Jarh and Ta'dil were not studied), and the opinions of the later scholars about him and their summaries. After all, this is the conclusion of the study, which includes a summary of his biography, a summary of the scholars' opinions of Jarh and Ta'dil about him, and the main findings. Lastly, there are bibliographies for the sources and topics.
