Abstract

The research aims to produce a scientifically accurate manuscript titled 'Al-Maqsid al-Asna fi Ma'rifat al-Furq Bayn (Anna) wa (Ana)' by the scholar Hafiz Abu Bakr ibn Abdul Ghani, also known as Al-Labib, who passed away before 736 AH. The research follows the established principles of investigation and tackles the problem of comparing two issues presented by the author in his book. The first issue is the word 'Anna' written with a 'ya' and a 'ta marbuta', with an explanation of its meanings and its occurrences in the Holy Quran. The second issue is the word 'Ana' written with an 'alif' and without a 'ta marbuta', with representations of its usage. The research methodology employed is the historical descriptive analysis. It begins by studying the author, including his name, lineage, birth, travels, teachers, students, reputation, scientific contributions, and death. The study then delves into the book, exploring its title, authorship verification, the author's sources, approach, handwriting styles, and providing samples. The book is also investigated following the established principles of investigation. The text is further supported with references to Quranic verses, analysis of mentioned passages in terms of meanings and grammatical analysis in the Holy Quran, defining unfamiliar terminology, and providing necessary clarification and articulation. The research concludes with various findings, including how the eloquence of the Holy Quran employs one word to convey multiple meanings, how 'Anna' functions as a frequently used grammatical tool, appearing in twenty-eight places in the entire Quran, all of which are interrogative except for one case where it is used as both interrogative and conditional. The word 'Anna' exhibits rhetorical uses in the Holy Quran, conveying wonder, exclusion, denial, negation, emphasis, and rebuke.

Key terms: 'Anna,' 'Ana,' Al-Labib, interrogation, Investigation, and Manuscript.
