Abstract

This study aims to explore the requirements of the developmental and needs department in determining the level of students’ needs and development in Public schools. The study further discusses the challenges facing the department, and provides a number of prospects that would contribute to the development of work performance. In achieving the goals of the study, The researcher adopted the descriptive and analytical method, which enabled the researcher to develop professional performance by reflecting on personal daily work practices and procedures. The data was collected using various sources which are:  the researcher's self-reflections, the analysis of online documents and reports, as well as a case study of school formations for (3) neighborhoods. In addition, the researcher interviewed 11 department supervisors and one department manager from Residential in Jeddah Governorate. The findings of the research indicated that te requirements of developmental and needs department in determining the level of students’ needs and development in Public schools are summarized as follow: Provision of standards, controls, and instructions for opening and closing classes, provision of databases, developing data for school buildings and models, provision of appropriate human resources, provision of technical devices and communication infrastructure. While the challenges are summarized with follow: Lack of documented evidence that collects standards, controls, and instructions for opening and closing classes, inadequate of a technical program that reduces the waste of time and effort when analyzing the basic data of schools, the systems are not linked to other government agencies to calculate growth rates in neighborhoods, lack of human resources, poor technical equipment such as devices, screens and internet connection. As a result, the study reached a set of prospects which including: Linking electronic systems from other parties, the department was able to use the (GIS) system. It also concluded that there is a need to hold an annual forum to exchange experiences, then conducting more studies and research that are in the area of interest on the developmental and need department in determining the rate of needs and the students’ developments in Public schools.
