Title of study: Effectiveness of using geographic techniques in developing reading skills and using maps for Students of the first grade of the intermediate School in Medina.
Objectives of the study: The study aims to identify reading skills and use maps, and the identification of geographic techniques that contribute to the development of reading skills and the use of geographical maps of students in the intermediate School. Book of social studies entitled "Maps and modern technologies".
Study Sample: The study sample consisted of (60) students from the intermediate stage of the first grade in one of the Madinah schools. (30) students per group after using a random sample of the study population, which is (10772) students.
Study Methodology: The researcher followed the analytical descriptive approach and experimental approach with semi-empirical design based on the choice of two groups, one experimental and the other an officer. A note card was prepared as a study tool to measure the reading skills and use of geographical maps in the sample.
Statistical treatments: The researcher was used to Analyze the study data (Alpha-Cronbach stability coefficient, Pearson correlation coefficient, Arithmetic mean, Standard Deviation, T test, and ETA-squared).
Results of the study: The study concluded a series of results, most notably:
There were statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the average scores of the students of the experimental group and the students of the control group in the post-application for the students of the experimental group in the following skills:
- Use a Scale to Measure Distance and Area on Maps .
- Use Map key.
- Geographical positioning system ( GPS ) .
- Use Google Earth / Google Map.
- Route Map.
